Internationally recognized in the practice areas of human rights and immigration law, Lily Mazahery has served as President of the nonprofit Legal Rights Institute since 2002. Lily Mazahery undertakes projects that promote principles such as independent media, robust civil society, gender equality, and economic and political freedom. Her firm pursues a diverse range of advocacy, campaign, monitoring, capacity building, and legal aid strategies. Ms. Mazahery is active in the public and media spheres, often briefing European Union and U.S. officials on Middle Eastern issues. She had presented at institutions such as Georgetown University, Harvard University, and Columbia University, as well as at academic institutions abroad. Lily Mazahery appears regularly in media outlets, having fulfilled commentator and guest duties on programs of the BBC, Voice of America, and CNN. She has also been featured in The New York Times, The Jerusalem Post, and The Washington Post. Ms. Mazahery supports a number of charitable organizations, including the International Campaign Against Honour Killings and Becky’s Fund, which assists victims of domestic violence.
